Applied Voicecraft in Therapy (AViT) Certification

We know that many clinicians have sought some form of recognition for the skills they have acquired via their training in Voicecraft. We are designing a certification protocol for clinicians who wish to develop and maintain high level skills in using Voicecraft in the therapeutic setting: Applied Voicecraft in Therapy (AViT) certification.

  • SPA (or international equivalent) membership. This is to ensure adherence to professional practice standards and a commitment to ethical practices.
  • Completion of Essentials, Applied and Advanced workshops, within a 3 year period. All three workshops can be completed within 1 year, however, we recommend that you consider your opportunities to practise and consolidate your skills in clinical practice, between workshops, when deciding on your timeframe for completion.
Evidence of clinical competency:
  1. Presentation of a case study from clinical practice - assessment, audio recordings, treatment, progress notes, summary/reflection. An assessment rubric will be provided upon application to be assessed.
  2. Completion of assessment - 7 case studies, written exam and provision of video material in which the applicant demonstrates the techniques and processes as used in the clinical setting. A marking rubric will be provided upon application to be assessed.

Exam materials will be marked by 2 examiners. In the event that the 2 examiners disagree, a 3rd examiner will be asked to mark the material.

  • To maintain AViT certification, you must complete a biennial Skills Refresher Workshop, to gain updates in the work and demonstrate skill maintenance in the clinical and vocal skills required of an AViT practitioner. Attendance at an annual webinar to keep up to date with the latest changes and application of Voicecraft is also required.
  • Collection of de-identified clinical statistics to be provided to Voicecraft annually to allow evaluation of the therapy process and efficacy.
Voicecraft certification is:

A pathway to mastery and application of Voicecraft skills for use in the treatment of voice and other communication disorders.
