This workshop will develop your skills with your own voice and increase your confidence and effectiveness in working with patients with voice disorder to restore and train their voice.

It is an experiential based workshop that introduces the concept of and skill in, differentiated control of the larynx and vocal tract and then applies it to treatment of functional voice disorders and associated problems e.g. hoarseness, vocal nodules, oedema, vocal fatigue.

There is opportunity for one-to-one and group development of specific vocal skills, in a safe, supportive environment.  A manual is provided.  Certificates are awarded for participation.

NB : Completion of this workshop does not contribute towards Application of Voicecraft in Therapy (AViT) certification.

Assumed knowledge: 

Undergraduate vocal anatomy and physiology

Expected outcomes :

  • increased confidence in working with patients with voice disorder
  • acquisition of 4 essential vocal skills
  • awareness of own vocal function and potential
  • knowledge of a therapeutic framework for treating functional disorders
